Varsity Assistant Coach


Chris Short


  Coach Short is in his 5th year with Roswell basketball and his 14th year in education.  After leading the physical education department and the student government at Findley Oaks Elementary in Fulton County for several years, Coach Short is now on campus at Roswell working with the Special Education and Physical Education departments.


  Prior to coming to the Roswell coaching family, Coach Short was an assistant basketball coach at Chattahoochee High School.  During his two seasons with the Cougars, they made consecutive state tournament Sweet 16 appearances and defeated the state's top ranked team to win a region championship.  Coach Short worked with athletes that included a future basketball player at Ole Miss and a future offensive lineman at Georgia and now currently a Cincinnati Bengal.


  Before moving to Georgia, Coach Short was the head varsity basketball coach at Sebastian River High School in Sebastian, Florida.  In just two season, Coach Short turned a struggling Sharks program into a state tournament competitor.  In his 2nd year, Sebastian River finished third in the district standings, the highest in school history at that point.  Coach Short also spent three seasons as the varsity assistant coach at University High School in Orlando, Florida.


  Since joining the Roswell staff in 2011, Coach Short has been instrumental in multiple winning seasons for the Hornets as well as helping lead Roswell's 2013 team to a region runner-up finish and state ranking.  Working with all aspects of the program, Coach Short specializes in post development and film analysis/breakdown.


  Coach Short earned a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from the University of Central Florida where he served as a team manager for the men's basketball program.  He also holds a master's degree in Sports Administration from Central Michigan University.


  Coach Short is married to Amy Short, the Student Services Department Chair at Roswell High School.  The couple has two young boys, Matson and Carter, who love being around the program and idolize the older Hornets.
